Year 7 Briars retreat: Day 2 – Briars Olympics, games and reconciliation

On Wednesday morning I couldn’t believe my eyes, the sunrise was beautiful. Later on that morning we had morning prayer arranged by one of the small groups which focused on the story of Moses parting the Red Sea.

After morning prayer we took part in the the official Briars Olympics which included the Blindfold obstacle course, the Magic stick and the Electric maze.

Later on in the day we spent time in our small groups preparing for our reconciliation service that was going to take place after supper. Each group prepared a role play with a piece of scripture to help everyone reflect on who they are, and how they think they could become a better person.

In the evening we then had the opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation with Fr Jonathan. There was a lovely atmosphere in Lower as we spent time taking part in the different activities that each small group had prepared. There was an opportunity to make an origami heart, do some mindfulness colouring and spell meaningful words with scrabble pieces. Lots of students had a chance to speak to Fr Jonathan and receive absolution.

It was a really special evening.
